Disease in The Rainy Season

In the current rainy season in Indonesia today. Don't you know what diseases will arise during the rainy season.

Here is the discussion:

1. Diarrhea
Diarrhea like a scourge in the rainy season. How come? The rainy season causes a decrease in the quality of cleanliness, which ultimately increases the development of viruses, bacteria and parasites. Bacteria that live in wet conditions are more easily spread and transmitted to humans.

Diarrhea is a disease that causes melting of feces and increases the frequency of bowel movements. This one disease often afflicts people in the lowlands, especially those who live in flood-prone areas.

Although it seems trivial, diarrhea will become a serious problem that causes acute dehydration.

To overcome this, you can consume ORS or other drinks containing electrolytes. This is done to replace lost body fluids.

2. Hepatitis A
The rainy season can also be a trigger for the emergence of hepatitis A. A dirty environment is one of the main causes.

Just like diarrhea, this disease is caused by a virus through consumption of contaminated food. Oral transmission of hepatitis A has an incubation period of 15 to 50 days.

Some symptoms of hepatitis A that appear include fever, rheumatic pain in the joints, loss of appetite, dizziness, and uncomfortable stomach.

To overcome this, you need to be careful when eating foods that are outside. Don't forget to check the cleanliness of the food stalls where you eat. And, also apply hygienic lifestyle.

3. Tipes
Tipes are infectious infections caused by Salmonella thyphi or Salmonella parathypi bacteria. Just like the two diseases above, these bacteria can be found in contaminated food or drink.

Typically attacked by the body will experience high fever, headache, loss of appetite, fatigue, and pain in the abdomen. In certain cases, typhus also causes rashes and constipation.

If not treated immediately, typhoid will lead to complications such as pneumonia, pleurisy, myocarditis, and heart failure.

The disease also called typhoid fever is common in tropical countries, including Indonesia. In Indonesia, typhoid was ranked third on the list of most diseases treated in hospitals.

4. Influenza
Coughs and colds seem to be something normal in the rainy season. Rain comes, influenza attacks.

Low humidity levels in the rainy season, make the virus more robust to develop. That way, they easily transmit the disease through the air to people with weak immune systems.

Not to mention the office space in Jakarta that has never been separated from the AC. This makes the air circulation worse, while increasing the risk of influenza transmission.

How to deal with almost the same as the others. Eating nutritious food, getting enough sleep, and applying hygienic lifestyle in the rainy season.

5. Leptospirosis
This one disease is an infection caused by a bacterium called Leptospira interrogans. In Indonesia, we know it as 'rat urine disease'.

This disease is transmitted due to skin contact with soil, water, or plants contaminated with urine from infected animals. Besides mice, other animals that can transmit leptospirosis are cows, pigs, dogs, reptiles, and amphibians.

Some of the symptoms caused by leptospirosis include high fever, headache, vomiting, chills, muscle aches, jaundice on the skin and eyes, diarrhea, or rash.

6. Dengue fever
Don't be surprised if dengue fever is 'inflamed' in the rainy season. Because the rainy season creates a number of waterlogging nests for the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

As is known, rain certainly causes a lot of puddles. If so, mosquitoes will body and easily infect by biting humans.

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that this disease is common in tropical and sub-tropical countries, such as Indonesia.

Don't underestimate malaria, because this disease can develop and risk threatening someone's life.

7. Acute respiratory infection (ARI)
In addition to the six diseases mentioned above, acute respiratory infections aka ARI also lurk human health during the rainy season.

ARI is a respiratory disease that results in a person experiencing coughing, sneezing, and fever. ARI is also easily transmitted to other people with weak immune system. (asr / chs)
